Benchmark Human Services has grown to become one of the most respected organizations in the country in the areas of intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and behavioral health.  We work with people at home, at work, and in the community, through residential, employment, crisis response, behavioral, recovery, children’s services and day services. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develops joint plan with family and recommends strategies utilizing evidence based practices and following the Natural Learning Environment Practices
  • Assessment of children’s developmental needs for individualized planning
  • Provide families with information, skills and support related to enhancing their child’s development
  • Include direct activities with the child designed to enhance the child’s development in one or more domains, including: cognition, adaptive functions, social/emotional skills, physical development and communication
  • Adaption of the environment to meet child/family needs in play, physical and gross motor development
  • Promote activities in the “natural setting” to enhance implementation of the IFSP
  • Complete necessary documentation to facilitate reimbursement through primary funding sources
  • Attends mandatory in-service training sessions and monthly team meetings
  • Comply with all standards to assure the health and safety of all staff and clients we serve
  • Comply with all Federal and State regulations, including those outlined in the Commonwealth of Virginia Notice of Child and Family Rights and Safeguards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License
  • Meets degree requirements and criteria for Physical Therapist as outlined in the Virginia Early Intervention Practice Manual
  • Licensed as Physical Therapist by the Virginia Board of Health Professions
  • Knowledgeable of infant/toddler development

  • Training and support of family members in the implementation of the IFSP and environmental consultation as set forth.
  • Complete necessary documentation to facilitate reimbursement through primary funding sources. (i.e., Medicaid, First Steps, etc.)
  • Promotes activities in the natural environment to enhance implementation of IFSP.
  • Comply with First Steps Provider Agreement with regards to continuing education, etc.
  • Report any suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation immediately to supervisor or department head.
  • Comply with all standards to assure the health and safety of all individuals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Driver's License.
  •  Registered with American Occupational Therapy Association.
  •  Certified by Medical Licensing Board.
  • Meets criteria for First Steps Provider Enrollment

  •  Baccalaureate and/or Masters and/or Doctorate degree in special education, deaf education, elementary education, early childhood or Child Development, Licensed as Registered Nurse, or related field with special education teaching license and 12 months supervised early intervention experience.

Description:
Benchmark Human Services, a national leader committed to providing quality services to individuals with disabilities, is hiring! We are actively seeking applicants for a variety of therapeutic positions including Speech Language Pathologists to serve our Fairfax County location. Ideal candidates will be licensed in their chosen profession and will be eager to provide home-based early intervention therapy services to infants and toddlers who are at risk for developmental disabilities as part of the Birth to Three Program. This position addresses functional needs of the child in various developmental domains, particularly related to speech and language development. Work involves developmental screening/ assessment, speech therapy, and teaming with family members and other professionals working with the family.  
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides families with information, skills and support related to enhancing their child’s development Includes direct activities with the child designed to enhance the child’s development in one or more domains, including: cognition, adaptive functions, social/emotional skills, physical development and communication adaption of the environment to meet child/family needs in play, language and communication development.
  • Promotes activities in the “natural setting” to enhance implementation of the IFSP
  • Completes necessary documentation to facilitate reimbursement through primary funding sources
  • Attends mandatory in-service training sessions and monthly team meetings

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid SLP License in the State of VA
  • Certified with American Speech-Language-Hearing Association

  • Prefer some experience working with birth to 3 population
  • Candidates for employment are required to pass drug screening
