Blue Octopus Printing Company, a full service product design and printing facility in Indianapolis, IN, has won a silver level Gold Ink Award for their Open House Invitation in the category of Digital Printing, Variable Data, & Personalization, which was designed and printed by Blue Octopus staff to promote its new digital printing capabilities.
The invitation, sent to industry leaders, community businesses, and marketing agency representatives, promoted an open house hosted by Hewlett-Packard Company representatives and Blue Octopus employees to display the capabilities and features of new equipment, an HP Indigo 5600 Digital Printing Press, acquired by the company earlier this year. These include vivid, photo quality printing on a multitude of print media and customizable messaging based on key analytics for each customer. With the integration of these new aptitudes, Blue Octopus’ design department’s abilities have grown as well, allowing them to meet customer needs more quickly and creatively than ever before. “When putting the piece together, we really had no limits as we were new to the HP Indigo’s capabilities and did not comprehend boundaries. We look forward to applying these new abilities to our customers’ pieces and creating a new experience for them,” said Joe McKinney, Director of Blue Octopus.
This year’s Gold Ink Award winners were chosen from more than 1,000 entries submitted within 50 different categories. Winning pieces were chosen based on print quality, technical difficulty, and overall visual effect. “[Blue Octopus] is excited and proud to stand out amongst all other talented printers and designers in our industry,” said Jeff Harris, VP of Operations for Blue Octopus.
