The Behavioral Clinician is a independently licensed mental health professional. The Behavioral Clinician will assist providers of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities/Behavioral Health (IDD/BH) services in Summit Community Care’s provider network who support persons with IDD in crisis and at high risk of disruptions in placement. As a member of the Provider Focus capacity building and crisis support team with Benchmark Human Services, the Behavioral Clinician participates in all clinical interventions. The Behavioral Clinician will provide consultation and recommendations for best practices to improve person-centered supports throughout the provider community.



  • Respond to all referrals in a timely manner, as assigned by Team Lead or Director.
  • Complete psychosocial needs assessments to identify strengths and opportunities for IDD and BH providers to improve behavioral supports to their consumers.
  • Develop and provide training on person-centered supports, trauma-informed care, and crisis supports for individuals with IDD or other topics, as needed.
  • Assist IDD and BH providers with development, implementation, and monitoring of Person-Centered Plans and Crisis Safety Plans.
  • Provide back-up support to BCBAs and RBTs to assist providers with development, implementation, and monitoring of Behavior Support Plans, as needed.
  • Participate during provider wraparound and consultation meetings by reporting assessment results and offering rationale for best practice recommendations in areas of expertise.
  • Provide direct behavioral health interventions to clients consistent with credential/licensure.
  • Provide assessments consistent with credential/licensure.
  • Provide clinical supervision to practitioners working toward licensures.



  • Knowledge of Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS), Developmental Disabilities Services (DDS), and Division of Aging, Adult, and Behavioral Health Services (DAABHS) regulations and standards;
  • Knowledge of Provider-led Arkansas Shared Savings Entities (PASSE);
  • Knowledge of health care privacy and confidentiality rules;
  • Knowledge of person-centered care and support for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or co-existing mental health diagnoses;
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis technologies and/or Positive Behavior Support strategies.
  • Ability to monitor and train staff and caregivers in provision of person centered supports and services, including crisis de-escalation, crisis response, and trauma informed services;
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive functional behavior assessments;
  • Ability to conduct diagnostic assessment;
  • Ability to work with other stakeholders (including law enforcement, the courts, and healthcare institutions) to help ensure that needed supports, services and resources are in place.


. Minimum:

  • Master’s degree in behavior analysis, psychology, education, social work or related field;
  • Credentialed as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Certified Social Worker;
  • Minimum of 35 hours of training and education in behavior analysis and behavior supports (for BCBAs) or willingness to receive training;
  • At least two years’ experience with behavior supports evaluation and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities;
  • Trained in a recognized current best practice crisis de-escalation methodology;
  • Valid CPR and First Aid Certification;
  • Valid Driver’s License and auto insurance;
  • Must be computer literate;
  • Must be experienced and competent in profession and maintain any applicable license, training and/or certifications.



  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and/or mental health diagnoses who are in crisis.
  • Working knowledge of the Arkansas DHS/DDS/DAABHS service system;
  • Experience in developing behavior support plans and presenting them to Human Rights or other review committees.
