Dr. James Wiltz, PhD HSPP, Psychologist & Regional Director for Benchmark Human Services will present at the INARF (Indiana Association of Rehabilitation Facilities) Annual Conference, Wednesday, March 18, at 10:30 am at the Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel, 8787 Keystone Crossing, Indianapolis, Indiana.

Dr. Wiltz’s presentation, A Comprehensive Community Support Model for People with Challenging Behavior, will address how providing an effective model of support for people with challenging behaviors can help avoid failed placements and transitions to highly restrictive settings, which are both disruptive and costly.

Attendees will learn:

•   How support clients with challenging behaviors in the least restrictive environment
•   Ways to prevent failed community placements when transitioning clients with challenging behavior
•   How to describe comprehensive services as a metaphorical 4-legged stool
•   How crisis services can prevent highly restrictive, costly placements

Dr. Wiltz earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Indiana University and Masters and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Ohio State University.  His graduate work focused on people with Intellectual Disability (ID) at OSU Medical School’s Nisonger Center, which is a University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD).  He has worked with people with intellectual disabilities since 1994 in a variety of positions, including as a Direct Service Provider (DSP), a Group Home Manager, a community-based Behavior Clinician (BC), and a provider of psychological services at two large state institutions.

Additionally, Benchmark Vice President of Business Development, Steve Cook, will participate on a panel discussion at the conference.  The panel will discuss Ted talk, “Everything you know about charitable giving is wrong.”
